God showed me His love for His children, no matter what their story entailed. God pulled me out of my comfort zone many times, challenging me to talk to people that my society turns a blind eye to. God revealed to me His heart for the city and its brokenness. Worship and Bible studies also brought me closer to God. Diving into His word and having Him reveal his awesome nature, or just sitting in the Presence of God, or lifting my hands in worship, all allowed me to grow closer in a relationship with Him. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (ESV) As I learned to come closer to God in the Discipleship program, God came closer to me, and showed me his love and desire for me.
